Recent Work

  • Assisting with long-term strategic planning for Auckland Theatre Company.
  • Internal review of a Wellington-based arts organisation, leading the subsequent restructure process.
  • Developing a new financial model and operational tool for a commercial art gallery owner in Newmarket, Auckland.
  • Business mentor to 'Livable', a social enterprise start-up trying to improve the quality of New Zealand's rental housing.
  • Analysing the performance of the business mentor teams in Akina Foundation’s Launchpad social enterprise incubation initiative. Mentor teams comprised business professionals from KPMG, Deloitte, Contact Energy, Vodafone NZ, SAP and AUT MBA Alumni.

Helene Malandain, Akina Venture Manager and Launchpad Programme Manager said:

Jonathan's findings around the Launchpad Support Teams' experience and his analysis of what could have improved their performance as a team were extremely useful for me, and for the Akina Foundation overall. First of all, this report has added an independent angle to the review we are in the process of conducting ourselves. The fact that it was conducted by someone external to the Akina Foundation meant it could uncover different findings, or refine learning we already gathered. Secondly, Jonathan's report has enabled us to consider learning through the lens of High Performing Teams theories, and to add an 'academic' layer to our otherwise very experimental findings. Finally, the report includes practical and actionable recommendations."
